Turkish Parliament approves sending troops to Libya…the move sparks condemnation

CAIRO, (ST)- Egypt has condemned a Turkish Parliament’s decision to grant President of the Turkish regime Recep Tayyyib Erdogan the mandate to send Turkish troops to Libya.

Earlier on Thursday, Turkish lawmakers approved a request from Erdogan to send Turkish troops to Libya, risking further escalation the African continent.

 In a statement on Thursday, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said “the Turkish Parliament’s step flagrantly violates the resolutions of the international legitimacy and the Security Council on Libya, especially with regard to arms supply and military cooperation with any party in this country without the approval of the UN Sanctions Committee.

The ministry warned of the repercussions of any Turkish military intervention in Libya, stressing that such an intervention will destabilize all the Mediterranean Basin countries.

 It called on the international community to assume its responsibilities in dealing with this dangerous development and escalation to avoid its bad consequences that will impede finding a solution to the crisis in Libya.

 Arab National Congress: Libya is a sovereign Arab country not an Ottoman province

In Beirut, The General Secretariat of the Arab National Congress condemned the Turkish regime’s interference in Libya’s internal affairs, stressing that Libya is a sovereign Arab country not an Ottoman province.

In a statement, the Secretariat said that the Turkish regime’s announcement on sending its troops to Libya leaves the door wide open for a direct regional and international war in the Libyan territories, reiterating its complete rejection of all regional and international interference attempts that target Libya’s security and territorial integrity.

The Secretariat called on the Libyan people to solve the crisis in their country through dialogue and through rebuilding the elements of the unified Libyan state’s institutions.
