Turkish occupation and SDF militia are cutting water supply to the people of Hasakah

On August 16th, the pumping of water from the Allouk water station to the city of Hasakah and the western countryside of the governorate stopped as a result of the practices of the Turkish occupation and the US-backed “Syrian Democratic Forces” militia.

The Director of the General Water Corporation in Hasakah, Mahmoud al-Okla, stated that the station has completely stopped working today after the SDF militia stopped the electrical supply operating the station and coming from the al-Darbasiyah power station.

He noted that despite supplying the Allouk water station during the previous days with sufficient quantity of electricity coming from the Al-Darbasiyah power station, it only worked at the minimum limits because the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries are  stealing the electricity allocated to the station.

Al-Okla pointed out that in the light of the interruption of water coming from the Allouk station to nearly one million citizens in the city of Hasaka and the western countryside, the efforts of the concerned institutions in the governorate , in cooperation with a number of humanitarian organizations, continue to provide drinking water to the people by filling the tanks scattered in the streets and public parks.

For their part, the residents of the city of Hasakah stressed the need to put an end to the crime of cutting off water by the Turkish occupier and the SDF militias, calling on the UN bodies and international organizations to hold accountable all those who participate in depriving one million citizens of the only water source.

Citizen Talal Al-Khaled stated that the people of “the city of Hasaka are victims of the crimes of the Turkish and American occupation and their militias.”

For nearly a year and a half, the suffering of stopping the Allouk station continues, and the citizens call for securing sufficient quantities of drinking water daily in the light of an international silence regarding a described war crime.

Mrs. Ruba Tariq asked how long the suffering of securing drinking water will last ??

It is noteworthy that the current interruption of the water of the Alouk station is the twenty-sixth since the Turkish occupation forces occupied the town of Ras al-A’in.
