Turkish lawmakers brawling over Turkish regime’s aggression against Syria

ANKARA, (ST)- A fight broke out on Wednesday in the Turkish parliament between lawmakers on the backdrop of the Turkish regime’s aggression against Syrian territories.

According to the Associated Press (AP), the clash on Wednesday started when Engin Ozkoc, member of the opposition Republican People’s Party, took the rostrum to deliver a speech.

Ozkoc called Erdogan “dishonorable, ignoble, low and treacherous,” AP reported.

He also said that “Erdogan is irresponsible as he sent the children of Turkish people to fight at frontlines while his own offspring avoid military service and by doing so, Erdogan shows disrespect to the Turkish soldiers who were killed in Syria.”

Video images showed dozens of legislators from Erdogan’s party and from the main opposition party pushing each other. In the video, some are seen throwing punches while others try to pull the brawling legislators apart.

Some lawmakers fell to the ground during the fray, according to Turkey’s Haberturk television.

During a speech to members of his party, Erdogan himself had accused the opposition earlier of being “dishonorable, ignoble, low and treacherous” for questioning Turkey’s military involvement in Syria’s northwest Idlib province.

Tensions has intensified following after tens of Turkish soldiers were killed in Idlib last month, while the Syrian Arab army was fighting terrorist groups in Idleb.
