Turkish helicopters participate in extinguishing fires in Lattakia countryside

DAMASCUS, MAY.10, (ST)-Today, the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management announced that, after coordination through the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Turkish authorities responded to the Syrian request and agreed to send helicopters to participate in extinguishing fires in the Rabia area in the Turkmen Mountains, north of Lattakia.

The ministry said that the fires in the Rabia area are still raging for the fourth consecutive day, and that there are growing fears that they could spread to populated villages due to strong winds and high temperatures, in addition to the difficult terrain and the presence of war remnants that are hindering the arrival of firefighting teams.

Yesterday, the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management formed a joint operations room with the Ministries of Agriculture, Defense, and Interior to control the fires raging in the forests of the Rabia area in the Lattakia countryside.

Teams are working to extinguish the fires and prevent their spread.
