Ankara-(ST), Turkish authorities have issued arrest warrants for 168 people, including military personnel, under the pretext of links to Turkish preacher Fethullah Gulen, whom the Recep Tayyip Erdogan regime accuses of being behind the July 2016 coup attempt.
“A warrant has been issued for the arrest of two civilians and 52 military personnel, including officers in connection with Gulen, and more than half of them have been arrested,” the Istanbul prosecutor’s office said.
Istanbul police also announced that arrest warrants were issued for 27 people and 15 of them were arrested, while arrest warrants were issued for 50 people in the central province of Konya and 37 people in Ankara.
Erdogan’s regime continues to crack down on its opponents in various cities and regions of Turkey under the pretext of a coup attempt. Over the past years, thousands of people, both civilians and military, have been arrested and 150,000 government, military, judiciary, education and other institutions have been suspended.
