Turkey’s CHP: Responsibility for Suruc Bombing Lies with Erdogan’s Policies toward Syria

ANKARA, (ST)- Deputy Chairman of the Turkish Republican People’s Party Veli Agbaba has stressed that the terrorist bombing which targeted the Turkish city of Suruc is the result of the irresponsible policies of Recepe Tayyib Erdogan, the Justice and Development Party and the dangerous practices of the Turkish intelligence agency in Syria.

Agbaba, who was in the southeastern town of Suruc to inspect the site of the bomb attack, has called for the interim government to take responsibility for the attack and for the interim interior minister and the undersecretary of the National Intelligence Agency (MIT) to resign.

“The responsibility for the bombing lies with the policies toward Syria put forth by MIT and the Justice and Development Party” Agbaba said in a press conference on Tuesday.

“There must be consequences. MIT has been already politicized. The undersecretary Hakan Fidan should immediately resign, as should the interim interior minister Sebahattin Ozturk. We call on the government to take responsibility,” Agbaba stated, according to Today’s Zaman newspaper.

On his part, former Turkish Foreign Minister Yasar Yakis asserted that the blatant Turkish interference” in the Syrian affairs is the main reason behind the terrorist attack in Suruc.

“The Turkish regime has provided support for the terrorist organizations in Syria since the beginning of the crisis, “ Yakis told the Turkish CNN Channel, stressing that this support and the flow of foreign terrorists to Syria across the Turkish borders have been an important element in the creation of ISIS terrorist organization ad its expansion in the region.”
