Turkey: Israeli attacks on Syria are a flagrant violation of its sovereignty and a threat to regional stability
The Turkish Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asli Guven, emphasized that the ongoing Israeli aggressions on Syria violate the country’s sovereignty and pose a threat to regional stability.
According to the Turkish Anadolu News Agency, Guven made these remarks during a UN Security Council session addressing Israeli attacks on Syria. She stated, “Israel continues to attack Syrian territory, violating its sovereignty and jeopardizing overall regional stability. These actions also directly undermine Syria’s efforts to combat the terrorist organization ISIS, as well as collaborative efforts to fight terrorism.”
Guven further explained that the steps taken by the Syrian administration demonstrate its commitment to initiating a political transition led by Syria itself, by the expectations of its people.
She called for a need to “fully protect Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and unity,” expressing Turkey’s readiness to collaborate with Syria on this crucial task. She also highlighted that the international community bears a shared responsibility to assist the Syrian people in recovering with dignity and emphasized that now is the time to demonstrate true solidarity with them.
