Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan emphasized the necessity of preserving Syria’s territorial integrity and political sovereignty, as well as forming an inclusive government in the new phase.
According to Turkey’s Anadolu Agency, Fidan said during a symposium titled “A New Dawn for Damascus: Prospects for Transition in Syria”, held on the sidelines of the 61st Munich Security Conference: “The new administration in Syria is responding well to the demands of the international and regional communities,”
He noted that everyone recognizes the magnitude of the challenges Syria must overcome.
Fidan pointed out that there is a consensus among regional countries regarding Syria, explaining that the key principles of this agreement are ensuring Syria’s territorial integrity and political sovereignty, forming an inclusive government, and preventing terrorism from developing or establishing a foothold.
He highlighted that one of the most important issues related to achieving stability in Syria is the establishment of a unified national army to ensure order and security in the country.
He noted that the new administration has addressed this issue comprehensively.
Fidan also said that Turkey currently prioritizes how to assist Syria in the reconstruction process, restoring its economy, and subsequently rebuilding state institutions.
