Tunisian Foreign Minister: Restoring Ties with Syria Inevitable Step to Correct Marzouki’s Mistake

TUNIS, (ST)-Tunisian Foreign Minister Taieb Baccouche has announced that restoring diplomatic ties with Syria is an inevitable step to correct the mistake committed by the former Tunisian President Moncef el-Marzouki.

The Tunisian al-Shourouq newspaper published on Tuesday quoted Baccouche as saying “Let’s make it clear from the beginning; restoring relations with Syria is an inevitable step to correct the mistake committed Marzouki and to serve the interests of both countries which are linked by very distinguished and deep amity relations.”

“Marzouki’s mistake was horrible as it served a regional and international anti-Syria agenda which made him and his allies imagine that the collapse of the Syrian state is a matter of time,” al- Baccouche added.
