Tunisia: Support for the new draft constitution in the referendum reached 94.6%

Tunisia (ST): The Tunisian Electoral Commission announced that the percentage of support for the new draft constitution in the referendum was 94.6 percent.

The Tunisian newspaper Al-Shorouk quoted the head of the Independent High Authority for Elections, Farouk Bouaskar, as saying during a press conference, “The preliminary results of the referendum on the new draft constitution for the country amounted to 94.60 percent of the vote, while the response rate was (no) 5.40 percent.”

The commission indicated the acceptance of the draft text of the new constitution for the Republic of Tunisia.

Bouaskar added: “The total     number of voters who voted amounted to two million and 830 thousand and 94 voters, while the number of canceled papers reached 56 thousand and 479, while the white papers amounted to 17 thousand and eight papers.
