Tunisia’s Defense Minister: 250 Tunisian Terrorists Flee from Syria to Libya Following Russian Airstrikes

TRIPOLI, Libya, (ST)-At least 250 Tunisian terrorists, who previously joined ISIL terrorist organization in Syria, have fled Syria to Libya since the Russian airstrikes against ISIL in the country have started, Tunisia’s Defense Minister Farhat al-Harshani has stressed.

In a statement to a Libyan website on Sunday, al-Harshani said terrorism was the top challenge facing his country besides the illegal movement across the Libyan-Tunisian borders, the absence of the Libyan state and the overwhelming chaos in Libya.

According to Tunisian officials’ estimates, thousands of Tunisians have joined terrorist organizations in Syria. Some of them were arrested upon arrival in their country while tens of others were killed in clashes in Syria.
