Trump’s Golan Decision Indicates Disability of International Organizations to Protect People’s Rights: Nasrallah

Secretary General of the Hizbollah resistance movement Hassan Nasrallah has affirmed that the US President’s Donald Trump’s decision to recognize the so-called “Israeli sovereignty” on the occupied Syrian Golan shows contempt for the Arab and Islamic world and disrespects all international resolutions which stress that Golan is a Syrian land occupied by the Israeli enemy.

In a statement on Tuesday, Nasrallah said that Trump continues to disregard the international law and Security Council resolutions  to serve the Israeli entity’s interests, pointing out that the top priority of the successive US governments has been to protect Israel and that the international organizations and laws are incapable of protecting peoples’ rights, including to restore occupied lands.

Nasrallah went on to say that the entire world, except for Trump, recognizes the Syrian state’s sovereignty on occupied Golan.

“The entire world recognizes Golan as a Syrian land. Only Trump was the exception, just for the sake of ‘Israel’. This proves that the US administration doesn’t recognize the United Nations and the international laws, and uses international organizations just to serve its own interests,” said Nasrallah.

He  stressed that the silence of the international community, particularly the Arab and Islamic world, over the US administration’s recognition of al-Quds as the capital of the Zionist entity, has encouraged Trump to announce his provocative stance on the occupied Syrian Golan and to commit more violations against Arab and Islamic rights and against international resolutions. In this context, Nasrallah called on Arab states to withdraw the 2002 Arab initiative during an upcoming Arab summit in Tunis.

He warned that the United States may next choose to recognize “Israel’s sovereignty” over the occupied West Bank if the Arabs remain silent.

He affirmed that resistance is the only way to liberate and restore the occupied Arab territories in Syria, Lebanon and Palestine.

Elsewhere in his statement, Nasrallah said that the US occupation forces in Syria’s al-Tanf area continue to take the displaced Syrians in al-Rukban camp as hostages and they prevent them from returning to their villages and towns through the humanitarian corridors opened by the Syrian government for this purpose.

Commenting on the US State Secretary Mike Pompeo’s recent visit to Lebanon, Nasrallah said his visit aimed at inciting the Lebanese people against Hezbollah’s resistance and against each others, because the American administration doesn’t want for Lebanon to remain safe and stable, stressing that counting on the US is a losing bet because all know how Washington treat its allies when their role ends.

Nasrallah lashed out at the US aggressive policies in the region, stressing that the US has been for many years seeking destruction and committing crimes across the world.
