Trump’s Al-Quds Decision Came After Approval of Reactionary Regimes: Shaaban

DAMASCUS, (ST)- US President Donald trump’s decision to recognize al-Quds as the capital of the Israeli occupation entity came after he had got the approval of Arab reactionary regimes which were proved to be hypocrites throughout their history in terms of their keenness on the Palestinian cause, the Presidential Political and media Advisor Bouthaina Shaaban has underscored.

Shaaban told al-Mayadeen TV in a phone call Wednesday night that “what happened proves how deep the Arab hypocrisy has been over the past 50 years. It uncovers the results of the shameful and humiliating accords signed with the Israeli occupation, namely Sinai2, Camp David, Wadi Araba and Oslo, and makes us think again of re-reading and rewriting our history transparently and honestly.”

The decision is of no value

“This decision is of no value because history is not made by decisions issued by people in a state of confusion, but by honest people and owners of just causes and Trump has no cause,” said Shaaban, pointing out that the coming era will prove this decision to be just ink on paper.

The presidential advisor urged launching an initiative aiming to change the deteriorating Arab situation through setting up an Arab development project that deals with Arab causes with complete transparency, honesty and efficiency.

She clarified that the policy of appeasement has proved to be invalid and that all the talk about al-Quds since 1975 in the meetings of al-Quds Committee, the Organization of the Islamic Conference or the Arab League was “a kind of hypocrisy not a sort of keenness on al-Quds and the Palestinians”.

She stressed the need to differentiate between the “Zionist” Arabs and the honest Arabs who defend Palestine and al-Quds.

Al-Mikdad: Collusion of Gulf Regimes with Israel Encouraged US to Make Al-Quds Decision

Earlier, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal al-Mikdad said that the Gulf states’ collusion with Israel, their conspiracy against the Palestinian Cause and their attempts to weaken Syria have encouraged the current US Administration to make its decision on moving its Embassy to al-Quds.

Al-Mikdad made the remarks in a statement to reporters on the sidelines of publishing a new edition of Maraya Magazine on the late Ayatollah Khomeini.

The U.S. Administration’s decision was not surprising as the successive administrations had had hidden intentions to make such a move benefiting from current conditions in the region, he added.
