Trump’s Al-Quds Decision a New “Balfour Declaration”: Narsallah

BEIRUT, (ST)- Hizbollah Secretary General  Hassan Narsallah has underscored that the US President Donald Trump’s al-Quds decision constitutes a new “Balfour Declaration” hundreds years after the issuance of the ill-famed declaration.

In a speech on Thursday on Trump’s decision to recognize al-Quds as the capital of the Israeli occupation entity and to move the US embassy to al-Quds, Nasrallah said “we are in front of an American flagrant aggression on the city of al-Quds, its people, holy shrines and identity, thus, silence over Trump’s decision encourages more US arrogance in the Arab world.”

He added that realizing the dangers of the US decision will be a motive for all to shoulder responsibility and act against it, because such a decision encourages Israel to impose it full hegemony over the holy city.

Nasrallah elaborated on the dangers of the US move on the fate of Al-Quds residents, their lands and holy sites, particularly al-Aqsa Mosque, noting that according to the US stance these holy shrines are now belonging to Israel. He also warned that the coming eras will witness a  huge and uncontrolled Israeli settlement building activities in al-Quds and the West Bank.

Trump’s decision fired the last bullet on the peace process

He reiterated that al-Quds is the heart of the Palestinian cause and Trump’s decision has fired the last bullet on the peace process and this forms, according to America, the end of the Palestinian cause.

Nasrallah went on to say that the American administration doesn’t respect international laws and agreements, pointing out that the world has become ruled by the law of the jungles and the mood of the “man who lives in the White House”.

He clarified that US’s allies in the Arab and Islamic states mean nothing to Trump and to the US. What matters to America in the region is Israel and its interests, he stressed.

Nasrallah called for rallies and demonstrations across the Arab and Islamic world in protest against Trump’s decision and in support for al-Quds. He urged Arab and Islamic countries to summon the US ambassadors as to inform them about their official protest on Trump’s provocative move which has put the entire region in front of a dangerous situation with unknown outcomes.

He also called for halting all secret and open contacts with Israel, for severing diplomatic ties with the Israeli occupation entity and for ending normalization activities, stressing that normalization with Israel is the biggest treason to al-Quds.

He reiterated that the Arab and Islamic countries must issue a binding decision that recognizes al-Quds as the eternal capital of Palestine.
