Trump had four years to start successful diplomacy with Iran

Tehran,(ST)-Iran’s Government spokesman Ali Rabiei explained about Trump’s claim that he would reach an agreement with Iran immediately if re-elected in the November presidential election saying: “Mr. Trump had four years to begin successful diplomacy with Iran by choosing the right, agreed, and legal path. Not only he did not do it, he made the worst mistakes which the US has made in decades.”

The government spokesman added: “Even if Trump is re-elected, he will not succeed in reaching an agreement as long as he continues his policy of ‘maximum pressure’ on Iran.”

The President’s Assistant for Social Relations stated: “If the hostile policy against the Iranian nation continues, we are ready to continue the maximum resistance of Iran as long as it is needed.”

“If Trump is serious about making up for past mistakes, we would welcome it, but his recent claim does not seem to have a purpose beyond winning votes,” he said.

Rabiei also said about the claim of a US intelligence officer about the interference of Iran, Russia, and China in the US presidential election, adding: “The baseless claim of Iran’s interference in the US election is for the purpose of electoral use of Iranophobia.”

“As we have said many times, the Islamic Republic of Iran has no interest in interfering in party politics in the United States and sees no advantage in the superiority of one US party over the other”, he added.

The spokesman of the Iranian government noted: “The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to prove that it will not show the slightest negligence in providing a proportionate and decisive response to any provocative and illegal action.”

Rabiei concluded: “Any resolution in violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2231 is unacceptable and is a mockery of international law.”   207/216
