Trench Dug to Preserve Deir Shamail Forest
The General Authority for the Management and Development of Ghab area, in cooperation with the Directorate of Water Resources in Hama Governorate, has been through with the work of digging a trench to protect the site of Deir Shamail forest. The Governorate further laid the foundations of the forestry outpost in order to protect the site from encroachments on its forest wealth.
Following encroachments repeatedly carried out on Deir Shamail forest site and following excessive logging of trees there, the necessary measures have been made in order to prevent such encroachments. A trench has been made in order to prevent any incursion.
Deir Shamail area has been allocated with 4,000 different plant saplings of elm, pine and eucalyptus in accordance with the environment of the site.
