The value of donations made by Tartous merchants and industrialists within the past two days amounted to 1.150 billion Syrian pounds for assisting the people affected the earthquake in Tartous and Lattakia, as part of the initiative launched by Tartous Chamber of commerce and industry to reinforce homes in the two governorates.

The chairman of the Board of Directors of the Tartous Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mazen Hammad, stated that the initiative aims at reinforcing as many buildings in the affected areas in Lattakia and Tartous as possible to help people return to their homes as soon as possible.

The initiative indicates the Chamber’s keenness to carry out its moral, humanitarian and national duty towards the citizens who were affected by the earthquake and to follow up on the relief work it has carried out in the affected areas.

The head of the chamber pointed out that all members of the Chamber as well as different parties in Tartous were invited to actively contribute to the initiative because its success will lead to the return of dozens of affected families to their homes as soon as possible.
