After a recent visit to Homs governorate, 44 tourists from Russia, Belarus and Belgium visited the city of Damascus.
The tourist group toured the archeological monuments at the Umayyad Mosque, Al-Azem Palace as well as a number of monasteries and churches in Damascus, in the city of Palmyra and Krak des Chevaliers Castle in Homs where they documented with pictures and videos what they have seen on the ground to convey the true reality to their country.
Head of the Tourism Marketing and Media Department at the Damascus Tourism Directorate Eng. Abdel Basset Khattab said in a statement to SANA Syria has witnessed, since the beginning of this year, a good tourist arrival movement from India, Iraq and Russia.
He stressed that the tourist movement is on the rise , especially after the recovery of the tourism sector, indicating that the Ministry of Tourism receives tourists from all countries and provide them with all the facilities , hoping that Syria will return as before, attracting tourists from all over the world.
For his part, Maher Al-Azaat from the Federation of Chambers of Tourism pointed to the recovery of the tourism sector in Syria , especially after the return of security and safety thanks to the sacrifices of the Syrian Arab Army.
He made it clear that more than 50,000 tourists of different nationalities visited Syria during the last period, which is considered a clear message to the world that Syria is a cradle of peace and love .
In turn, Mahmoud Aboura, the tour guide accompanying the group, noted the tourists’ lovely impressions about the Syrian civilization and the Syrian people’s steadfastness during the unjust war on Syria.
The Russian tourist Sergey Brand, director of one of the museums departments in Moscow and a writer and historian about Syria said the visit was a dream for him that has now come true by visiting this country which is rich in different cultures.
“We work and pray for Syria and it will become better than it was . Syria is the country of steadfastness, love and heroism, we thank everyone who supported it to overcome its crisis”.
In turn, the tourist Jean-Francois from Belgium addressed a message to the world to visit Syria and learn about its civilization, pointing out that the life of people in Syria is very normal, contrary to what the Western media broadcasts.
Other tourists stated that they felt safe in Syria, the cradle of religions and civilizations, where Christianity emerged, despite seeing the destroyed places that are a clear witness to the acts of terrorist groups praising the great hospitality of the Syrians
