Tourism Minister: Employment of Archaeological Sites

Damascus, (ST) – Tourism Minister Eng. Bisher Yazigi recently discussed with members of the Board of the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Damascus ways of cooperation between the Ministry and the Faculty of Architecture in the framework of activating the memorandum of understanding and cooperation between the Ministry of Tourism and the University of Damascus to take advantage of the academic experience.

 Eng. Yazigi demonestrated his Ministry’s role in urban planning of the tourism sector in the reconstruction and the role of the Faculty of Architecture in this area by contributing to studies of tourist planning, explaining the strategy of the ministry in the next stage in searching for new participatory methods designed to encourage investors and non-load state additional burdens as well as activate domestic tourism of low cost.

He stressed the importance of investment features of tourism in all regions, especially in the Syrian countryside and the study of tourism employment of ancient, archaeological and historical sites, religious buildings and holy shrines, taking advantage of the experiences of students of the Faculty of Architecture to beautify Damascus city center and the study of proposed sites for the establishment of wax museum to a number of symbols and others.

The participants discussed what the Faculty of Architecture can provide to supply the tourism sector with ideas and proposals that serve the development of this sector.
