Tokayev wins the presidential elections in Kazakhstan

Astana (ST): The head of the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan, Nurlan Abdirov, announced the victory of the country’s President, Kasym-Jomart Tokayev, in the presidential elections.

“Kassem Jomart Tokayev won 81.31 percent of the vote,” Abdirov said in his committee session today, in which the preliminary results of the presidential elections were announced.

Abdirov pointed out that the head of the Farmers’ Union, Giguli Dayrabaev, received 3.42 percent of the vote, the social figure Karakat Abdin 6.22 percent, the economist Miram Kacikin 2.53 percent, the representative of the opposition National Social Democratic Party Nurlan Oispaev 2.22 percent, and the human rights activist Sultanate Tursinbekova 2.12 percent.
