Tohamy during a reception on the anniversary of the Algerian Revolution: Syria is always present in the conscience of the Algerians

Damascus (ST): The Embassy of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria in Damascus commemorated the 68th anniversary of the outbreak of the liberation revolution on the first of November, at the Damascus Sheraton  Hotel.
In a speech during the ceremony, the Algerian Ambassador in Damascus, Lahcen Tohamy, affirmed that Syria is always present in the conscience of the Algerians, and that the relations between the two countries are distinguished due to the popular cohesion and the historical balance between the two brotherly countries and peoples.
Tohamy stressed his country’s position on the crisis in Syria, which was characterized by stability and clarity of vision, as Algeria called for a political solution through national dialogue between Syrians that serves their interests and preserves Syria’s sovereignty, stability and territorial integrity.
Tohamy affirmed his country’s adherence to the general principles of its foreign policy based on the principle of respect for the independence and sovereignty of states and non-interference in their internal affairs, and the principle of resolving crises, disputes and problems by peaceful means, dialogue and reconciliation away from military solutions and foreign agendas.
In turn, Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Dr. Faisal Miqdad, pointed out that Algeria stood by Syria in its war on terrorism, and did not join those who supported terrorism, stressing the justice of the causes of the two brotherly countries, which created an atmosphere of affection with Algeria, which has always said Syria is an inseparable part of the Arab nation and its conscience.
Mikdad recalled President Tebboune’s words in his last meeting with him that the Algerians had all the love for Syria.
He stressed that the anniversary of the launching of the Algerian national liberation revolution against French colonialism, which carries all the noble and honorable meanings, is present in the heart of every Syrian who believed in it and considered it an integral part of his history, noting that Damascus still celebrates unforgettable memories about the role played by the great Algerian leader Abdel Qader al-Jaza’eri in Syria.
Miqdad praised Algeria’s role towards the issues of the Arab nation, including Syria, and its recent effort to restore cohesion to the ranks of the Palestinian people. Therefore, Syria was one of the countries that announced its support for this step, stressing that these are the values which the two countries enjoy.
In a statement to reporters, Dr. Buthaina Shaaban, Special Adviser to the Presidency of the Republic, said: What unites the two countries is history, struggle, a common destiny and common goals, referring to the two countries’ attempts to convince the Arab countries that joint action should be a priority.
