Tishreen University and the Chilean Bernardo O’Higgins University Discuss scientific and academic cooperation

Rector of Tishreen University, Dr. Bassam Hassan, discussed with a delegation from the Chilean University of Bernardo O’Higgins, headed by Dr. Claudio Rove Escobar, ways of scientific and academic cooperation, the development of cultural and academic relations, and the development of scientific research between the two sides.

Dr. Hassan gave the Chilean delegation a detailed presentation on the nature of education at Tishreen University and the programs it implemented in the scientific and research field. He pointed out that the university has more than 100,000 students in all specializations, including 5,000 postgraduate students (Master’s and Ph.D.) .It also has 175 postgraduate programs.

For his part, Escobar made a similar presentation about Bernardo O’Higgins University and the majors it includes and can cooperate in, expressing his happiness at visiting Tishreen University and seeing its programs.

In a statement to a SANA reporter, Escobar noted that the purpose of the visit is to discuss issues that can be cooperated on in the field of scientific research, and to find common ground for the continuous development of universities in the two countries, and to raise their level of classification in the world, pointing out that Syrian universities have great potential in various fields.

In a similar statement, Dr. Hassan indicated that during the meeting, ideas about scientific cooperation in the future were exchanged. He noted that the Chilean University is distinctively interested in scientific research, and its experience can be benefited from as it includes 12 research centers with multiple specializations.
