For the 7th time since last October, thousands of demonstrators gathered in the British capital on Saturday to protest against Israeli attacks and demand an immediate cease-fire in the Gaza Strip.
Agence France-Presse reported that the demonstration, organized last night by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, started from Russell Square in central London before heading to Trafalgar Square.
Ben Jamal, director of the campaign and one of the organizers of the demonstration, told Sky News: “We call for an immediate ceasefire and the implementation of what was ruled by the highest judicial body in the world, the International Court of Justice.”
On the 26th of last January, the International Court of Justice issued a ruling in the framework of the lawsuit filed by South Africa against Israel regarding the commission of genocide in the Gaza Strip, ordering the Zionist entity to take urgent measures to prevent acts of genocide and ensure the entry of humanitarian aid to Gaza Strip.
Bin Jamal accused the British government of “giving the green light” to what the Israeli authorities are doing, especially by continuing to allow arms exports to it.
He considered that it is necessary to make a “fundamental change in the British government’s policy,” stressing “Our demonstrations will continue until this change occurs.”
During her participation in the demonstration, former social worker Sally Worgan stressed to Agence France-Presse that it is important for Palestinians to know that people support them and that they are not alone.
She added: “It is necessary for Western governments to listen to our demands, which is what the British authorities eventually did, that recently called for an “immediate humanitarian truce.”
