Thousands of Syrian students take part in marathon in support for presidential elections

Thousands of students in the Syrian provinces of Damascus, Aleppo, Hama and Lattakia took part in a marathon organized on Sunday by the National Union of Syrian Students in support for the upcoming presidential elections in Syria.

According to Dareen Suleiman, Head of the NUSS, 7 thousand students participated simultaneously in the marathon held within the Union’s activities in all the Syrian universities with the purpose of supporting the presidential elections.

Ayad Talab, member of the Executive Bureau of the NUSS, said that the marathon aims at sending a message to the world that the Syrian students are greatly aware of the aggressive campaign being launched on their country to foil these elections. He pointed out that through participating in this marathon the students want to confirm that the Syrians alone are entitled to choose their leader.

Many participating students confirmed their participation in the presidential elections to express their love and adherence to their homeland and their support for the Syrian Arab Army and to stress that despite all the pressure, the Syrians won’t give up their determination to achieve complete victory and rebuild what terrorism has destroyed in their homeland. They said that these presidential elections are a turning point in Syria’s development process and holding them is a challenge to all forms of foreign interference.

Some participants affirmed that their marathon carries a message to the world that the Syrian youths are effective partners in reconstructing Syria.
