Thousands of facilities in Adra industrial city in Damascus countryside supply local market with products
DAMASCUS COUNTRYSIDE, Mar.8, (ST)-Adra Industrial City in Damascus countryside, which extends over an area of 7005 hectares, is one of the largest pillars of the country’s economy, supplying local market with its products, and exporting the surplus.
According to data obtained by the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the number of facilities in which the wheels of production is turning is 988, and the number of allocated sections is 5566, while the number of factories under construction is 2398, with an expected investment volume for this year estimated at 1051 billion Syrian pounds.
The industries in the city are distributed within the large industrial zone, which includes iron, pipe, ceramic and feed industries, areas for building materials, chemical, food industries, and another for tanning industries.
The city’s general manager, Eng. Hassan Al-Sayyed, clarified that the service situation in the city was evaluated, especially the water file, as it was found that it needs to activate the city’s wells and increase the quantities of water supply to industrial facilities by purchasing new pumps.
He indicated that communication are being made with the Ministry of Electricity to ensure the continuity of electricity to the city around the clock, adding that work is currently underway to amend the investment system in effect.
