Thousands of Americans call on Congress to intervene to prevent Israeli occupation from demolishing Palestinian schools

Supporters of Palestinian rights in the United States launched a campaign  demanding  members of Congress to pressure the US administration to intervene and prevent the Israeli occupation authorities from demolishing Palestinian schools in the West Bank.

WAFA Agency stated that an electronic petition signed by more than five thousand Americans states that “Israel” has issued demolition orders for 58 Palestinian schools in occupied Jerusalem and the rest of the West Bank, warning that it is scheduled to demolish Jub Ad-Dib elementary school in Bethlehem before the 7th  of May.

In the same context, the Palestinian and Arab community and the municipality of Reus in the province of Tarragona, Spain, organized on Saturday, in Liberty Square in the center of the city of Reus, a campaign to collect signatures to prosecute “Israel” and hold it accountable for its crimes against the Palestinian people.

Head of the Palestinian Community Association in Reus, Amina Shoman, said: The event aims to collect the largest possible number of signatures on a petition to sue “Israel” for the policy of apartheid that it carries out against the Palestinian people. It also aims at making the Spanish people acquainted with the ancient Palestinian heritage through presenting Palestinian fashion shows and dances and displaying products of Palestinian origin. She underlined the importance of these shows because they emphasize the Palestinian identity and represent part of the resistance to the occupier.

Deputy mayor of Tarragona, Paula Varas, affirmed her solidarity with the Palestinian cause, denouncing the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people and calling for their cessation.
