Thousands of Aleppo Displaced Families Start to Return to Their City

LATTAKIA – Families who were forced to leave Aleppo city due to terrorists’ criminal acts started to return to their homes and neighborhoods as the Syrian army announced Aleppo safe on December 22nd, 2016.

Head of Lattakia Sports’ City, Ahmed Farhat, said that the city hosted about 7000 citizens from Aleppo where a mobile school was established to teach children, in addition to a health center.

Farhat said that maintenance and repair works are underway to rehabilitate the main halls, stadiums and swimming pools and reopen its doors to athletes, tourists and visitors, SANA reported.

 He underlined that efforts are being exerted to ensure the delivery and distribution of humanitarian aid, medical materials and food supplies to thousands of displaced people hosted in the temporary makeshift center at the city.

On their part, the displaced people who left the city and opened workshops and stores in Lattakia said that they manage to return to Aleppo with their families and children at the end of the school year as to take part in the rebuilding of their city and restore its glory and economic and industrial capital.

Abdul-Jabbar said that he was closely following up the Syrian army’s achievements on the ground and once the city was announced safe, he went to inspect his own home and that of his parents in al-Bayada neighborhood which was totally destroyed by terrorists.

Zyad al-Baz, an owner of a workshop for tailoring menswear in al-Mokambo neighborhood in Aleppo city, said that he is looking forward to return despite the plenty of investment opportunities offered to him in Lattakia.
