Therapeutic Tourism in Syria

One of the reasons tourists come to Syria is to visit the therapeutic tourist spots as the percentage of their visitors is 5% roughly from Lebanon, Jordan, the Gulf and foreign expatriates. Syria enjoys several medical tourist spots on the tourist map including hot sulfur mineral water springs, forests, mountainous areas and desert.

Tourist marketing manager at Ministry of Tourism BanaTamim said that the Ministry’s plan for therapeutic tourism focuses mainly on building tourist utilities in different provinces for activating recreation and health tourism.

Tamim pointed out that there are numerous hot sulfur water springs in different provinces which are due to be invested such as Sheikh Issa Bathes in Idleb, Abu Rabah Bath in al-Qariaten in Homs, Afqa spring and Zanobia Queen Bath and al-Dumair sulfur spring in addition to Dreikish and Boqein mineral water springs.

Al-Hayat spring lies 45 kilo meters to the south of Damascus in Jbab village in Daraa which is also listed in the Ministry’s plan according to Tamim in addition to Ras el-Ein springs in Haska whose water’s temperature is around 27 decrees.
