The World Council of Churches condemns the occupation massacre in Rafah

Occupied Al_Quds – The Secretary-General of the World Council of Churches, Rev. Jerry Pillay, condemned the attack launched by the Israeli occupation forces against a camp for displaced people in the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip last Sunday.

The WCC said in a statement: “The World Council of Churches condemns all violations of international humanitarian law and norms related to the protection of civilians by Israeli occupation forces.”

Pillay called for “an immediate cessation of this deadly violence” and appealed “to cease attacks on civilians and to urgently stop the escalation of the conflict.”

Pillay voiced his regret over the loss and suffering among civilians resulting from this attack.

“Strikes that kill civilians – especially innocent children – can never provide a path to sustainable peace or justice, but rather perpetuate the cycle of violence,” he added.

Pillay said it is time to stop the killing of innocent people, calling on the international community to take concrete action for an immediate ceasefire.
