The winners of the “Russia in the Eyes of Syrians” painting competition honored in Damascus

DAMASCUS, Oct.20, (ST)- Within the activities of the last day of the 5th  Syrian-Russian joint meeting to follow-up on the international conference on the return of Syrian refugees and displaced people, the Minister of Communications and Technology in the Russian city of Ryazan, Ulyanev Andrey Yovich, honored the top 10 winners of the “Russia in the Eyes of Syrians” painting competition, which was virtually held in the city (2020-2021).

During the honoring ceremony, which was held at the Opera House in Damascus, the Minister of Education, Darem Tabbaa, said that the competition aimed to strengthen the friendly relations between the two countries and introduce their civilizations, pointing out that all the winning paintings express the Syrian-Russian relations and the role that Russia played alongside Syria in confronting terrorism.

For his part, the Russian minister thanked everyone who participated in this competition, calling on students to develop their skills, raise the level of their artistic work, and always participate in drawing competitions to be held by Russia.

The student Lana Mahamid from Daraa Governorate, who won the 1st  place for a painting showing peace said that she participated in the competition because she loves drawing as a hobby that she inherited from her Russian mother.

The student Malaz Ahmed Saqr from Lattakia Governorate, who won the 2nd  place in the competition, pointed out that he is currently in the secondary school, and he is one of the students who have been studying the Russian language since the 7th  grade.

His painting showed the state of peace that has returned to Syria after the elimination of terrorism.
