The victory of President Bashar al-Assad in the presidential elections and the wide participation of the Syrian people in the elections in spite of the threats of the armed terrorist groups are a very important international and regional event that changed political equations in favour of the Syrian people and the resistance axis. These elections and victory affirm that the only solution to end the current crisis in Syria is national dialogue based on the desire and will of all spectrums of Syrian society. The elections were held according to the constitution of the Syrian Arab Republic and on the belief of the Syrians in the unity of their homeland and determination to defend its independence.
For the first time in Syria’s history, these elections were held with a number of presidential candidates and in an atmosphere of competitiveness, equality and freedom pursuant to the law.
Appalled by the holding of free, fair and democratic elections in Syria, the camp hostile to Syria has escalated rhetoric against the Syrian state. The presidential elections were held in presence of representatives from many countries, parliaments and non-governmental organizations with over 200 media outlets from various countries of the world and under the supervision of a judicial committee with subcommittees deployed in every Syrian province.
Holding the presidential elections is proof of the sovereignty of the Syrian state and its ability to overcome all conspiracies. The elections that took place in a competitive atmosphere is a prelude for new stage of national accord that will enhance the reconciliations in the country and put an end to the crisis in Syria. The Syrian people proved that they alone grant legitimacy and choose the president of Syria. The elections shocked Syria’s enemies and constitute a civilized response to the lies these enemies attempted to propagate.
The European Union’s criticism of the June 3 presidential election is a violation of national sovereignty. The EU’s comments are a breach of international law and interference in Syria’s internal affairs. The EU’s position runs contrary to the basic rules of democracy and respect for the right of people to elect their leaders.
It seems that the West is not going to give up its anti-Damascus moves despite the holding of a democratic presidential election in Syria. The Western media is downgrading the elections. They are ignoring the big turnout and they are ignoring the multi-party candidates. The remarkably high turnout of the Syrians to cast their ballots reflects the will of the Syrians and their insistence to fight terrorism. The elections have sent a strong message to the countries which conspired against Syria that the elections were a success. The huge turnout by the Syrians on the ballot boxes is evidence of the Syrian people’s will to decide their future and emerge out of the crisis. The backers of the terrorist takfiri groups in Syria, Iraq and some other Arab countries are the main enemies of the region’s countries. The US created and planted armed terrorist groups in those countries and has been supplying them with all forms of support, financially and militarily to sow disputes and differences among their peoples.
It is ironic that the US and its Western allies and regional tools, which claim to have civilization and boast about rejecting terrorism, support and back the armed terrorist groups militarily and financially.
Some countries, instead of encouraging and supporting this historic event, waged a war against these elections in contrary to any democratic conceptions or values and far from the principles of human rights and freedom of expression as to distort the true image of the Syrian people’s civilization.
The great Syrian people proved in these elections loyalty to the homeland and commitment to their rights as it is time for the countries which are involved in bloodshed in Syria to stop arming and funding terrorism and acknowledge the right of the Syrians to live in peace and security.
It is necessary to form a public opinion that rejects the western colonialist plot which is aimed at fragmenting the Arab Nation. The pluralistic presidential elections in Syria are one of the manifestations of victory over the takfiri western terrorist scheme. Syria’s victory over terrorism is victory for all Arabs, the Palestinian Cause and genuine Islam.
The presidential elections have directed many messages to the world and the most important one is that the conspiracies of hegemony powers and the Zionism reached a dead-end.
The sides that have supported terrorists in Syria must receive the Syrian citizens’ massage and end their wrong track. The presidential elections delivered a severe blow to those who conspire against Syria. The Syrians’ determination was manifested by the remarkable turnout for voting in Syrian embassies abroad and in various Syrian governorates.
