The Palestinian Plastic Artists Union organized an annual plastic art exhibition on the occasion of Al-Quds Day under the title “Jerusalem is the Axis” to reflect meanings related to heritage and the Palestinian women’s struggle and resistance.
The exhibition included 45 different artworks from various artistic schools presented by 40 plastic artists, where each artist expressed his love for Palestine in his own way and style.
Head of the Palestinian Plastic Artists Union, Abdel Muti Abu Zaid, pointed out that this year’s exhibition was distinguished by the wide participation of Palestinian, Syrian and Iranian artists of different ages, with the aim of deepening the idea of the victory of the Jerusalem cause in the whole world, embodying their visions and impressions, and emphasizing that plastic art is a resistance art, witness to this era, and a historian for all what happened and is happening.
Plastic artist Reem Qubtan expressed her happiness in participating in this exhibition, considering that this occasion is not only Palestinian but Arab and that everyone must participate, each according to his field. She presented a painting entitled A Woman of Light showing Palestinian women as a symbol of giving, existence, land and cause.
Artist Laila Al-Osta expressed her love for Palestine through two paintings in which she embodied Jerusalem and the right of the Palestinian people to return, which is a basic demand, using acrylic and oil colors in addition to merging different colors to give her paintings a special aesthetic.
The paintings of the plastic artist, Issam Al-Mamoun, gathered new techniques that combined photography, sculpture and graphics, as he sought to give his paintings a visual scene in a symbolized expressive style.
Artist Hanan Ibrahim expressed her adherence to the Palestinian heritage by drawing a girl in the traditional Palestinian uniform to remind generations of it and the meanings and connotations it carries using oil colors, pointing out that her participation aims to uphold our land and our right and preserve our culture, heritage and identity.
Plastic artist Mahmoud Abdullah painted the Palestinian woman as a symbol of the homeland, land and martyrdom, using the expressive school.
Plastic artist Muwaffaq Makhoul presented two paintings in which he painted Jerusalem as an artistic and national icon in an expressive style. He confirmed that his participation is sentimental to confirm that Palestine is an Arab and global issue and the artists have a duty to recall the importance of this issue and the right of the Palestinian people to return.
The plastic artist Moataz Al-Omari participated in three works that tell of the suffering of the Palestinian artist and adherence to the right of return, pointing to the importance of the role of the plastic artist in documenting everything that the Palestinian people have been exposed to.
