On May 23rd, The University of Damascus honored 60 publishers of its distinguished professors and students who published their research and studies within prestigious international databases in various specializations for the year 2021.
During the honoring ceremony held at the university, the Rector of the University, Dr. Muhammad Osama Al –Jabban, confirmed a series of measures had been taken during the last period that contributed to a qualitative shift in the scientific research that culminated in the publication of more than 457 external scientific research during the year 2021.
Al –Jabban pointed to the preparation for the opening of the International Publishing Unit in order to help researchers and graduates prepare their research and ease the ability to publish external.
The Vice Rector of the University for Scientific Research and Graduate Studies, Dr. Mohamed Firas Hinnawi, indicated that external publishing in international scientific journals, with internationally recognized standards, increases the improvement of the university’s classification globally.
Hinnawi explained that the honor relied on several indicators, the first of which is the importance of the magazine, the importance of the published research and the percentage of its contribution to raising the university name globally.
The Director of Scientific Research and Graduate Studies at the University, Dr. GhaithWarqozak, spoke about the external publishing for the year 2021 and the work of the Directorate of Scientific Research and Graduate Studies as well as the international standards adopted in external publishing.
The Director of Academic Programs Department in the Excellence and Creativity Authority, Dr. Shadi Al –Azmeh, gave a presentation on the importance of external publishing, the role of scientific research and its impact on economic growth and the classification of international magazines within the “Scopes” database.
Al –Azmeh said that one of the most important and largest databases for classifying scientific magazines is external publishing.
Al –Azmeh stressed the need to focus on scientific research and high – quality publication to raise the university’s classification and create a technical support unit at the university level to spread the culture of qualitative research among graduate students and provide all kinds of support to students who want to publish in international journals and provide rewards for publishers in magazines with an advanced classification.
