The University of Damascus advances to rank  617 for the year 2025

The University of Damascus advanced 617 places  in the first edition of the “Webometrics” global classification for the year 2025,  ranking  2424 out of 32,000 universities and research centers in the classification. The university stated on its website that this is the first time that a Syrian university is among the best 8 percent of universities in the world, according to this classification.

The “Webometrics” classification is based on three main criteria for classifying universities around the world: “transparency, research excellence, and impact,” and it is the only cognitive scientific classification in which all Syrian universities and research centers are present.

A few days ago, the University of Damascus entered, for the first time, into the Times classification of specializations issued on the 22nd of this January, to be the first Syrian university to enter this part of the classification after achieving the scientific, cognitive and educational conditions.
