The universities of Damascus and Ulster discuss classification of universities and development of scientific research
Damascus (ST): The development of scientific research and ways to improve the international classification of educational institutions was the highlight of the discussion of the participants in the interactive workshop organized today by Damascus University in cooperation with the British University of Ulster under the title “Senior Personnel Development Program, Institutional Classification and Sustainable Growth” at the Reda Saeed Conference Center.
The President of Damascus University, Dr. Muhammad Osama Al-Jabban, confirmed that the workshop comes within the ongoing scientific activities of the university and an important part of its current work plan to upgrade its classification and develop the teaching process, indicating that work is currently underway to develop and improve the reality of the technological and informational infrastructure at the university through an automation project that includes all work joints, the university’s administrative and technical project, including the university’s website development project.
Al-Jaban pointed out that the cadres of Damascus University, despite the difficult circumstances, continue their scientific and research activities, noting that researchers and its students record outstanding achievements in terms of scientific publishing in prestigious international fields.
Dr. Yasser Khadra, Director of Scientific Research at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research gave a presentation in which he talked about the current reality of scientific research in Syria and indicated that the number of master’s theses registered at Damascus University for the year 2022 reached 683, while the number of doctoral theses reached 155.
