The United Nations condemns the Israeli occupation’s settlement plans in the occupied Palestinian territories
On September 29th, the UN Security Council condemned the continuation of the Israeli occupation entity with its illegal settlement plans in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The UN Security Council held a session to follow up the implementation of Resolution 2334, which affirms the illegality of settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories and the violations of the occupation against the Palestinians and their displacement from their cities and villages, especially in occupied Jerusalem.
Ivan Khrushchev, adviser to the Russian mission to the United Nations, called on the Israeli occupation to refrain from taking unilateral steps that would irreversibly change the reality on the ground.
“The lack of any progress in the Palestinian cause affects the region, and we must seek to activate the role of the International Quartet Committee to bring this issue back on its right track in accordance with the recognized legal frameworks,” Wafa news agency quoted Khrushchev as saying.
Khrushchev stressed the importance of supporting the Palestinian economy and the arrival of aid to the besieged Gaza Strip.
For his part, China’s representative to the United Nations said: “The issue of settlements is one of the most important issues that affect the settlement of the Palestinian issue, and Resolution 2334 clearly indicated that settlement plans in the occupied Palestinian territory violate international law.”
For his part, Tunisia’s delegate to the United Nations reiterated the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to self-determination, to establish their independent state, to restore the stolen rights to their owners, and to enforce the law.
In turn, the Norwegian delegate to the United Nations expressed her country’s concern about the illegal settlement plans of the occupation under international law, considering that they undermine the possibility of establishing a Palestinian state.
For his part, the representative of Mexico called on the Israeli occupation to implement Resolution 2334 and refrain from using violence against the Palestinians.
He welcomed all initiatives calling for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, the complete lifting of the siege and the establishment of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
The Norwegian United Nations envoy to the Middle East, Tor Wencesland, said in his presentation of the report of the Secretary-General of the United Nations that “Resolution 2334 calls on the occupation to stop its settlement plans, including Jerusalem.”
Wencesland pointed out that the occupation destroyed more than 300 Palestinian homes during the current year, killing 24 Palestinians, including women, and displacing 433 people, including 251 children.
Wencesland stressed the need for the United Nations and its humanitarian organizations to work for the permanent entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, which the occupation has imposed a stifling siege since About 15 years old.
