The Union of Journalists condemns targeting SAMA TV team with an explosive device in Daraa Al-Balad neighborhood

Damascus, (ST) – The Union of Journalists condemned the terrorist attack that targeted the media team of SAMA satellite channel with an explosive device, and led to the martyrdom of the field correspondent in Daraa Governorate, Firas Al-Ahmad.

The Union indicated in a statement that the Syrian media and the Syrian journalists have been a target for the terrorist groups and the countries that support them as they carry out their national duty in exposing the lies and misinformation practiced by these countries against Syria, which made the number of media martyrs exceed fifty martyrs, not to mention the wounded.

The Union affirmed that the Syrian journalists will not abandon their national and professional role in performing their duty by continuing to confront everything that threatens the security of the homeland and the citizen, regardless of the sacrifices. It called on Arab, regional and international federations, trade unions and press associations to condemn this terrorist act and to work so that the perpetrators and their supporters are punished.

The correspondent of Sama TV in Daraa governorate Firas Al-Ahmad and three members of Syrian armed forces were martyred as a result of the blast of an explosive device planted by terrorists in the Al-Sheyyah area in Daraa Al-Balad neighborhood while on their way back after covering the operations of the Syrian Arab Army in combing the border with Jordan from drug traffickers.
