The UN warns of the consequences of the end of the truce in Gaza

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for a new truce agreement to be reached in the Gaza Strip, expressing regret that it has stopped.

“I deeply regret that military operations have started again in Gaza,” Guterres said on the X platform, considering that the return of these actions “shows how important it is to reach a real final ceasefire for humanitarian reasons”.

Jens Larke, spokesman for the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Geneva, said: “the end of the truce means that hell has returned to the land of Gaza,” adding, “with the resumption of war, we fear that the continuation of humanitarian assistance is now in doubt.”

Larke warned that the Rafah crossing is currently closed and that “the situation needs to resume the humanitarian truce and not return to the war.” In another context, Ravina Shamdasani, spokeswoman for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, revealed the continued Israeli occupation to prevent UN high commissioner Volker Turk from reaching Gaza and the West Bank during his visit to the Middle East.

“Turk’s visit is very important for the independent investigation of the many allegations made during this war, which helps in the fight against disinformation,” Shamdasani said during a press conference in Geneva.

Earlier, news agencies reported that on November 10, the Israeli occupation authorities did not allow the head of the UN High Commissioner for human rights to visit the Occupied Palestinian territories during his five-day visit to the Middle East, indicating that they continue to obfuscate the war crimes they are committing.
