The UN envoy to Syria stated the following:
– I urge the authorities in Syria to publish the results of the investigations into the events in the coastal region and to ensure accountability.
– Northeast Syria must be integrated into the country in a manner that preserves its unity and sovereignty.
– I have reached an agreement with President al-Sharaa to integrate armed factions into a national army, ensuring that there are no weapons outside of state control.
– The repeated Israeli violations of Syria’s sovereignty undermine political transitions and must stop immediately.
– The Security Council must compel Israel to completely withdraw from Syria and respect its sovereignty and independence.
-The economic situation in Syria is catastrophic, and I call for the lifting or significant easing of international sanctions.
– A successful political transition in Syria cannot occur without economic recovery.
– More political inclusion and significant economic improvements are needed for a successful political transition in Syria.
