Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union welcomes Syria’s return to the Arab League
The Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) welcomed the return of Syria to the Arab League and the resumption of its participation in the meeting and the activities of the league.
The presidency of the union said in a statement published on its website:” Based on the absolute belief in the Arab unity and in unifying the Arab stances in word and deed as the only way to confront global challenges and accelerating international changes, the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union welcomes the announcement by the League of Arab States of the return of the sisterly Syrian Arab Republic to the Arab League.”
The Union stressed that this decision reflects the keenness of the Arab brothers on the stability, safety, Arabism, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of brotherly Syria, reiterating its rejection of the external interventions that have contributed to the exacerbation of the suffering of the Syrian people in the light of the spread of terrorism and extremism.
The Union referred to the pivotal and active role of Syria since the establishment of the Arab League, in addition to its valuable contribution in various fields, calling for adopting the necessary mechanism to activate the joint Arab action and for the return of Syria to play its regional role with full efficiency and competence.
The Union renewed its support for and solidarity with Syria, affirming its confidence in the Syrian leadership and its great people to resume the comprehensive development and reconstruction process, in a way that met the ambition and aspiration of the Syrian people.
