The two boards of directors of the Syrian-Iranian Joint Chamber of Commerce approve an annual work plan

The two boards of directors of the Syrian-Iranian Joint Chamber of Commerce agreed today on an action plan that contributes to developing commercial relations between the two countries.

During their annual meeting today in the Iranian capital, Tehran, the two councils, which were chaired by Fahd Darwish on the Syrian side, and on the Iranian side, Kiwan Kashifi, discussed this action plan and ways to implement it in cooperation with the relevant authorities, especially in terms of reducing customs duties tariffs from four percent currently to zero percent on goods between Iran and Syria .

With the aim of facilitating the flow of goods between the two countries, the need for each country was stressed to exclude the other from import ban lists and to help Syrian products enter Iran, taking into account the circumstances that Syria is going through.

The two sides stressed the need to solve the problem of financial transfer by accrediting a private bank in both countries with two approved and licensed exchange companies to be guarantors for the transfer of funds, opening commercial accounts, and ensuring the rights of the parties in any commercial contract. It was agreed that the work plan would include the creation of a joint transport company between businessmen of the two countries that would adopt a land and maritime line which would contribute to reducing shipping costs and increasing commercial exchanges.

The plan included the establishment of a comprehensive and documented data bank on economic and investment activities in the two countries, which would facilitate access to the products required by exporters and importers, and work on establishing a commercial arbitration center in the two countries to settle commercial disputes between economic activities.

The two sides agreed to make efforts to set up direct sales exhibitions for the products of the two countries, establish economic, commercial and investment forums, and establish a trade center for Syrian products in Iran with the help of the Iranian side of the Chamber. With the aim of expanding the tourism industry between the two countries, work will be done to support the efforts of tourism companies and offices, and to include all types of tourism and increase the number of trips air between the two countries.
