On September 19, the Turkish judicial authorities decided to extend the detention period of at least 94 former Turkish soldiers who were detained earlier, under the pretext of suspected links to Fethullah Gülen, whom the Turkish regime accused of being behind the coup attempt that took place in the country in 2016.
The Anatolia News Agency of the Turkish regime quoted a judicial source as saying that the suspects were among 131 former military officials who were arrested on September 16, during operations launched mainly in Istanbul and other 34 provinces.
Since the coup attempt, the President of the Turkish regime, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has been waging a severe crackdown to target his opponents, as tens of thousands of people were arrested and dismissed in various civil and military institutions in the country.
