The Turkish regime authorities arrest 47 people in Izmir

Ankara, (ST) – The Turkish regime authorities arrested 47 persons, including 34 military persons, during a security campaign they carried out in Izmir, under the pretext of their association with the movement of the preacher Fethullah Gülen.

The Turkish Zaman newspaper quoted the Prosecutor’s office in Izmir as saying, “47 suspects, 34 of them were military persons in the Turkish armed forces, were arrested, claiming that the arrests came on the background of making phone calls to officials using public phones.

On the 18th of this month, the Turkish regime authorities had arrested 36 people, including 29 military personnel on the same pretext.

Since the coup attempt in Turkey in July 2016, the regime of Recep Tayyip Erdogan launched a crackdown that included all public sectors and resulted in the arrest of about 80 thousand people and the expulsion or arrest of about 150 thousand government employees, members of the army, police and others from work.
