The Tourism Ministry bans celebrations on Christmas and New Year

The Tourism Ministry has decided to ban parties and celebrations at tourist facilities and restaurants in all Syrian provinces on Christmas and the New Year in order to ensure that these facilities adhere to specific occupancy rates in the light of the coronavirus pandemic in the country.

Director of the Tourism Quality and Control at the Ministry of Tourism Ziad Al-Balkhi said that the ministry’s decision doesn’t provide for the closure of these facilities.

According to Al-Balkhi, the decision was made because the celebrations held in these places witness crowding and violate the conditions set for all the tourist facilities, including hotels and restaurants of various classifications.

He pointed out that the penalties for violations in these facilities may amount to closure.
