The Syrian Trust for Development launches initiative to plow the lands in the Al-Fakhoura village, in Lattakia

On May 8th, the Syrian Trust for Development launched the initiative to plow the lands in the Al-Fakhoura village which was affected by the 2020 fires in Lattakia

The mayors of municipalities, agricultural associations and the local communityparticipated in the initiative.

The Syrian Trust for Development stated that this initiative is a step in the way of launching the comprehensive development plan for the Al-Fakhoura village within the framework of the initial response to the fires and confronting the challenges they imposed

The Syrian Trust for Development started withcounting the damage and losses, through involving farmers with their ideas on how to compensate and invest their expertise.

The initiative aims to plow 43,816 dunums, which is the burned lands, or about 44 percent of the total area of Al-Fakhoura village, funded by popular financial donations to which the Syrians contributed as compensation for those affected during the weeks following the wave of fires.

The initiative will continue for 45 days, with the participation of the residents of Al-Fakhouravillage and many parties to reduce the financial burdens on farmers and prepare the lands for cultivation, as 96 tractors have been secured in coordination between the Syrian Trust for Development, the Syrian Arab Red Crescent and the Farmers’ Union.

This initiative comes as implementation  of what was agreed upon during the specialized workshop to develop the general orientation of the agriculture and livestock sector in the Al-Fakhura village.
