The Syrian Trust for Development carries out a plan to preserve Al- Qudoud Al-Halabiya

The Living Heritage Program of the Syrian Trust for Development has worked out  in cooperation with the local community in Aleppo Governorate, the main axes for safeguarding Al-Qudoud Al-Halabiya , which were registered on the UNESCO Representative List of the intangible cultural Heritage of Humanity 2021. 

 

The main axes of the preservation plan came during an intensive two-day workshop in the production market in Aleppo, with the participation of a group of governmental and civil sides , artists, musicians, researchers, and those interested in the field of music and the art of Qudoud.

The preservation plan focused on documenting, promoting and marketing Al-Qudoud’s  cultural products, and reviving the cultural places associated with Qudoud , especially in the old city of Aleppo.

The workshop stressed the importance of formally and informally conveying the elements of Al-Qudoud  as well as enhancing their presence in official and cultural events. 

Reem Al-Ibrahim , a member of the Living Heritage Program said in a statement to SANA that the Syrian Trust for Development was and still supports Al-Qudoud  after its inclusion on the UNESCO list of human heritage by preparing a plan for preserving them   in cooperation with the local community.   

The artist Anas Sabah Fakhri indicated that the workshop is of great importance in confronting the ferocious attempt to obliterate the Syrian cultural identity , which has been preserved for several centuries.

He  pointed out that Al-Qudoud constitutes one of the most important features which Aleppo is famous for, wishing  to reach a clear and consistent policy to preserve it . 

The artist Fares Ahmar called  for holding a huge festival in Aleppo castle  under the title “ Summer of Qadoud Al-Halabiya 2022” to attract large categories of society and focus on the youth and adolescents in refining their talents in the field of Qadoud and Muwashahat.

A number of singers stressed their important role in spreading and preserving Al-Qudoud which is considered a wonderful folk heritage and a message for generations to preserve, perform and ensure its  sustainability.

Engineer Talal Khudair, Head of the Aleppo Chamber of Tourism pointed to the Chamber’s interest in protecting and preserving the Syrian tangible and intangible heritage in addition to some traditional handicrafts .
