The Syrian People Alone to Decide in a Popular Referendum

Syria is to take part in Geneva 2 meeting and in due respect for the national interests of the Syrian State and People, reiterated Syrian Minister of Information, Omran al-Zoubi.

In a press conference here Tuesday, Minister al-Zoubi added that Syria wants Geneva 2 to succeed and would never allow any non-Syrian agenda to pass through the meeting, be it Saudi, Turkish, French, US or whatever.

The minister hoped that Geneva 2 would be a prelude to political process leading to national Syrian-Syrian  political solutions.

Minister al-Zoubi pointed out that Geneva 1 statement should be read thoroughly especially when it calls for jointly combating terrorism, asserting that the Syrian people are alone to decide in a referendum Syria’s political future and to decide on whatever to be agreed upon in Geneva 2.

“any work in Geneva should be agreed upon by the Syrian People in a public referendum. If not, any work in Geneva is meaningless and void,” said Minister al-Zoubi.

Minister al-Zoubi blasted the Saudi support to terrorism, asserting that the possessing of money and financial resources in no way should mean the killing of others, creation of terrorist groups.

The Minister condemned the recent explosions in  Russia, Iraq, and Lebanon asserting that one side stands behind these expositions and should be held accountable.

Syria is fighting against terrorism; there is no extremist terrorism and a moderate terrorism. Terrorism is but terrorism and should be fought against, underlined the minister.

Minister al-Zoubi called on Turkey’s and Jordan’s governments  to stop their  backing and support  to terrorists.

Regarding Iran’s participation in Geneva 2 meeting, Minister al-Zou’bi added that Iran has its value and political weight in the region and Syria does wish its participation.

The Palestinian Cause is the essence of the Arab-Zionist conflict, underscored the Minister in reply to another question.
