The Syrian national football team loses to its Chinese counterpart in the joint qualifications for the World Cup and the Asian Cup

Abu Dhabi (ST): The Syrian national football team lost to its Chinese counterpart, 1-3, in the match that brought them together at the Sharjah Stadium, at the conclusion of the second round of the joint qualifiers for the World Cup in Qatar 2022 and the Asian Cup in China 2023.

The Syrian team remained at the top of the first group of qualifiers with 21 points, the Chinese team came second and raised its score to 19 points, while the Philippines team finished third with 11 points, the Maldives ranked fourth with 7 points, and Guam ranked fifth and last without points. The Syrian team qualified as the leader to the finals Asian and the decisive stage of the World Cup qualifiers.
