Damascus (ST): The Syrian Narrative Short Film (Photograph) by film director Muhannad Kalthoum and produced by the General Film Organization won the grand prize at the conclusion of the 23rd International Cedar Film Festival in Bazrou Ifrane, Morocco.
20 films from several Arab and foreign countries competed for prizes at the festival, which was held under the title (Cinema and Cultural Diplomacy) from the 25th to 28th of this month.
The film deals with the phenomenon of child labor and their having to leave their schools and work to secure the livelihood of their families, observing through it the effects of the war on Syria against this young age group.
On the importance of participating in Arab and international festivals, director Kulthum said in a statement: “As filmmakers, it means for us that the Syrian product is spread all over the world and shown on the cinema screens of Arab, regional and international festivals with strength and professionalism, and that it preserves the Syrian cultural identity.”
