The Syrian feature film “Blood of the Palm” participates in the Golden Panda Film Festival in China

Beijing (ST): The Syrian feature film “Blood of the Palm” by director Najda Ismail Anzour participated in a special screening at the “Golden Panda” Film Festival in its first session in the Chinese city of Chengdu.

The film, produced by the General Cinema Foundation and written by Diana Kamal El-Din, narrates the last days of the life of archaeologist Khaled Al-Asaad, director of Palmyra’s antiquities, who faced ISIS terrorists unarmed and refused to hand them maps of the archaeological sites in the city. The spirit of Queen Zenobia remained with him throughout the film.

The film also talks about Palmyra, the Bride of the Desert, who suffered from the scourge of war and destruction at the hands of ISIS, and from the terrorists” attempts to steal its antiquities and systematically destroy what they were unable to steal. The film also talks about the sacrifices and heroism of the Syrian Arab Army in order to cleanse the city of terrorism and its supporters.

During his participation in the “First International Cultural Experts Forum of the Golden Panda,” director Anzour underlined the importance of the forum’s role in paving the way for strong relations between filmmakers and opening horizons of cooperation and cultural and civilizational exchange.

Anzour touched on the film’s standards and how to enhance exchange between different cultures and civilizations through cinema as one of the tools of cultural influence among the peoples of the region, noting the Belt and Road Project, which aims to build a “community of shared Chinese-Arab destiny” to enhance cooperation and cultural exchange, especially between China and Syria, to achieve development and prosperity for the peoples of the two countries.
